13. 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s
Nicole Forbes asked, “Ms. Frederick, back in the 60s what was it like being a hippie?” You’re new homework assignment is inspired by that question. Task: If you had to travel back in time to live though a decade of theTwentieth Century in these United States – which would you choose? Be specific, describe at least five major events which support your answer. Wikipedia is an unacceptable resource for most all of the academic historiography we do but for a flip assignment like this I believe it’s quite fun and suggest you check out their decade summaries. ex. 1960s

In the time I would really wanna be in is the 1970s.This time period is known for its swinging parties, all night dancing in clubs, and drugs.I think this time period is the greatest because of all those activities exept for drugs. The five major reasons for me to pick this time period is swinging parties, all night dancing, clubing, nuclear weapons, and the last reason is new and impoved rights.
Ok, if I were to live in any one of those decades I would definitely pick the roaring sixties because of the hippie era where the youth movement began and where social revolution was expressed everywhere against the Vietnam war. The 60s were mainly the “Make love not war” time and I think that just awesome. They were also more liberated and were more open to new things by questioning authority and government, demanding more freedom for women, gays and minorities. Im also influenced by the music, Joan Baez one of the singers that I listen to today was very influential during the 60s for her anti-war songs and rebel points of view in her songs. In conclusions the peaceful and experimental ways are the reasons why I choose too go back to the 60s.
The decade that seems most interesting and exiting to me is 1970’s. There are some things in the seventies that I do not agree on like the amount of drug use and the increase in divorce rates. Other than that; and maybe some other issues, the seventies was a crazy and fun era with log nights and fun partying. Both feminism and the hippie era began in the 1960’s but either took flight or continued in the 1970’s. The gay rights movement also began in the 1970’s and greatly accelerated. Just because people like the same gender as they are, they should not be discriminated. Some gays are great people, friends, and family members. You shouldn’t be against someone because of the person they like. Music was different in the 70’s, for an example, disco crept into clubs in the mid-seventies. A wonderful heart pumping, and popular band also emerged from space and into our radios. Their bands name was ABBA (which is an acronym formed from the first letters of each group member's given name). They sang pop/dance music and songs like Dancing Queen and Mama Mia. These are just a few things that occurred in the 70’s, some of many amusing things that I and many people enjoy learning about.
The decade I would chose to go back is 19670's. The 1970 has of the coolest, old school rides. Cars like the Dodge challenger, Chevy Camero, Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger, and the Pontiac GTO. Those are five of my favorite muscle cars back then. I would go back just to see those again.
The time that I would like to be in would be in the 1950s. I want to be in the 1950s because I can picture the war that happening. Also I would like to experience what happen in the war. I want to serve in the army and hold a gun and kill a person. Plus i want to see how dangerous the war was and what event took place. Those are the reason why I choose to be in the 1950s.
The decade that I would choose to live in would be in the 1990's. In this time period new technology was being updated. The new Mp3 player came out in the late springs in 1998. The avancement in computer modems made many internet connections faster. I would also choose to live in the 1990's because of the world changing events, such as Iraqi invasion of kuwait in August 2 1990. Also the world wide New years eve celebration on December 31, 1999. In the 1990's, I think the new drug that was created to fight the HIV disease that is spreading all across the world is extremely fascinating. This is why I would choose to live in the 1990's.
If it was upto me I would go back to the 1950's.Five reasons i would go back is because the television show "I Love Lucy " was made.Education grew during the 50's.New music genres were being released and being introduced to the human race.Art was being released in new ways, in new looks. This art everyone wanted.Francis Crick,James.D Watson and Rosalind Franklin discovered the helical structure of DNA.
i would probabllyy pick the 1970s
because uu gettt to party alot an you know every girl likes to party like a rockstar
beacuse the weapons are all new and cool like we can actually shot peaple an like think its cool
beacuase their are new rights that were pasted an are rockin this world
going to clubs an doing god knows what there you know perform for the ladyys and gents
beacuse you get to stay out all night an not worryy
about anything but dancing dringing and whatever else thats your buisnesss
The Decade that seems more appealing to me is the 1980's because it was the New Wave Era.These are the following reasons why:
1.Pop Culture was over the top fashion and big hairstyles
2.MTV came out and its first video was Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles.
3.The Backlash of Disco Music
4.New Wave and SynthPop had many popular artist such as A Flock of Seagulls,Duran Duran,Depeche Mode, and Japan.
5.Hip Hop Came Out
The decade i would like to go back to would be 1940-1949.I want to go back to that time to see the exact events that occured during world war 2 and the holocaust.I would want to see if all of the text books were accurate about the war and the holocaust.I would also like to take part in world war 2 so i can serve my country. Also i learned that after the war more men were able to go to college so i would like to see what the old colleges were like.
I would choose to live in the 1940s.It was a very important time period. In the 1940s there was World War 2,The Holocaust,Independence for different colonies, and the famous Iron Curtain spaeech. It seems like an interesting time period.I would want to fight in the war. Those are my reasons why i would want to live in the 1940s
The decade that I would like to be in would be in the 1950s. I want to be in the 1950s because I can be in a war. Also I would like to experience what would happen during the war. Another reason i want to be in the 1950 is because I want to serve in the army and hold a gun. Well i held a gun before and fired it but not to a person. I want to see how it feels like to kill a person. And I want to see how dangerous it will be in the war. Those are the reason why I choose to be in the 1950s.
In my own tenet, I truly think the 1920s would be the most pivotal and fun. This decade is called the "Jazz Age", which is the beginning of the popular Jazz and Blues. The 1920s is also known famously as "The Roaring Twenties", which is the aftermath of World War One and also the rise of The Great Depression. So starting on 1920 Babe Ruth was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees for the sum of $125,ooo the first largest paid for a player at that time. Also the forces of Russian White surrendered in Krasnoyarsk, because of that "The Great Siberian Ice March ensues. Prohibition of alcohol begins in the United States with the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Then later on the Tartu Peace Treaty was signed. Warren G. Harding was president of the United States in 1921. In 1922, the United Kingdom accepts independence of Egypt. In the Bronx the Yankee stadium was built. In 1923, the Treaty of Lausanne was sign by the countries who were involved in the first World War. In the 1924, Calvin Coolidge became th3 first president of the United States to deliver a radio broadcast from the White House. In 1925, scotch tape was invented. This was a awesome invention back then. In 1926, the Slave Convestion abolish all slavery. In the 1927, the first Trans-atlantic telephone call was made from New York to Boston. In 1928, Amelia Earhart became the first successful woman to ride an aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean. In 1929, Canada and United States agree on a plan to preserve the Niagara Falls. In the 1929, Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta, Georgia. The Wall Street Crash of 1929 was the beginning of the Great Depression. The 1920s is really an interesting period of time where numerous of important people are born in. An pivotal event in the 1920s was the first working mechanical television. These events is the reason why the 1920s was a important decade and a very unforgetable period of time.
the decade i would want to live in is the 1990's because of saved by the bell, alot of new technoglogy came out like the new mp3 player and improved computers. I think the main reason is saved by the bell and the style was different.
If I had to pick one of the decades I would pick the 1980's only because so many great things happened in that decade. Mtv came out with its first video which was Killed the Radiostar by the Buggles. The Go-Gos came out in that year. There was the backlash of Disco Music. Also hip-hop came out. I would love to live in that decade it would be so exciting.
If i had to pick what decade i wanted to live in i would choose the 80's and the early 90's.I would have hcose this decade because of all the entertainment that came out between this time.Music that i liked during this time was Micheal Jackson beat it and thriller,Madonna like a prayer and Prince when doves cry. Also the hit show Saved By The People. These are the reasons i would like to leave in between these centuries.
The decade i would choose is the 1940's because in the 1940's a war was going on and everybody knows about the war, but what would it be like to see the war actually happening in front of you. You would see people getting shot and even find some new reasons why the war started that nobody in our decade would know. Also during this decade the holocaust was happening and it wasnt the good for certain people. Many colonies were also getting independence.
I would pick The Sixties because it was the decade that younger people wanted to make peace and not fight. The only thing I didn't like about the sixties was how peple were so into many drugs and because of that people are still doing drugs in this decade, maybe even more. As Jefferson Airplane says " if you remember anything about the sixties, you weren't really there."
